Sessions / Lying awake
Lying awake
For the nights you can't sleep. You're held and kept safe, and at the end the session lets you drift off, with no need to come back.
10 min, or 3 min for hard moments · free · stop any time
What happens in the session
It’s a guided imagery session, a kind of guided meditation where a voice leads you through scenes you picture or sense. You imagine yourself as a young child, growing up with a different set of parents who are just right for you. Over seven short scenes, they give you the things a secure childhood is built from. You picture them however feels right, and you can stop at any time.
This session spends a little longer on:
- Soothing and comfort. when you’re upset, they notice straight away and comfort you the way you need.
- Safety and protection. the parents keep you completely safe, without smothering you.
In the last scene, you bring to mind the familiar feeling of needing to feel safe enough to rest, and imagine the parents giving you exactly what you need. The session never mentions what happened to you.
How to use it
Find somewhere you won’t be disturbed for ten minutes, and use headphones if you can. It helps to come back to the same session often, every day or a few times a week. Replays are always free.
Would you like one made just for you?
Tell us a little more about what you’re going through and we’ll make a session around what you need. You hear the opening free before you decide to keep it, and the 4-week practice gives you a new one each week. How the practice works.
Based on the Ideal Parent Figure method (Brown & Elliott, 2016). Remap isn’t therapy and doesn’t replace it.
